I am looking to buy a new house this year, preferably in the Northwest side of Chicago. The houses are still a little over priced for my budget right now but I would like to know when are prices on homes in the city of Chicago going to be lowest this year? When in this year should I buy the house I want?

Start to work with real estate agent right now and tell him , that you really looking for the house below market price. You never know when this " special " house will be on the market.
That is how I got my house, but it took me almost one year to find the right house. Good luck.
Don’t know when prices will be lowest, but there are usually more houses on the market in late Spring/ early Summer. Most people with kids want to sell after the school year ends if they’ll be moving to a new school district, so there should be more to choose from at that time. Interest rates may drop again and prices may continue to go down, but noone knows how far or when.
