How ironic to the person above me. I lived in the Quad Cities most of my life. I liked it a lot. I lived in Davenport, and will actually be moving back soon. I am with ALCOA and it’s a great company to work for. I know people who live in Moline and Rock Island, and they like it also. The Quad Cities is only 3 hours from Chicago and I-80 runs right through Davenport. If you build on the out-skirts of town, you can get a pretty good chunk of land at a good price. The schools are great, and they have lots of things to do. I currently live in Florida, and I liked Davenport, Iowa better.

Northern suburbs are really nice, like anything north of O’Hare airport. Schools are a lot better there.

I would say Chicago Heights, IL because it’s like a suburb and it has a nice safe neighborhood. Also, they have huge backyard space for kids to play in. I say you should try your luck there.

Head north, across the border, to places like Kenosha. The corridor between Chicago and Milwaukee is filling in, and there are jobs of all types there. By choosing a quieter semi-rural town, you get much more house for the dollar.

Naperville, IL was for several years rated as the best place in the U.S. to raise a child, so I would recommend Naperville, or the Naperville area (except Aurora).
St. Charles and Geneva are just as well. St. Charles is possibly the most attractive-looking, picturesque town in Illinois.
