I own a vacant lot in Chicago. Im looking to buy a house but at the same time it seem to be cheaper if I found a builder to build me a home on my own land. Would the city allow that? Do anybody know of any construction home builders that will build personal property? What are the steps in doing this?

u own land , land is zone residentail = u can build on it.

the steps ar emany and can take some time to do right which is the cheapest way to go, Right.
It’s your land. If it’s zoned residential, then you can build a house on it. Call your city’s zoning board if you’re not sure how it’s zoned.
Start with the Chicago zoning board and be prepared to get the run around for MONTHS. If your property is zoned residential, that is a great start, but Chicago is horrible as far as getting permits and approvals and all of that pushed through. There are a ton of residential general contractors in the area – finding one of them is going to be the least of your worries.
